Day 6

The downfall to doing section hikes is having to regain your trail legs and suffer through lost toenails all over again. Why do I do it to myself? You’d have to be there.

Making a summit

By the time most thru hikers hit this part of the trail they are putting in 20-25 miles a day, which is what I attempted to do. Never again!  I made 107 miles in 6 days. I felt like I was rushing through and I like taking my time. At the rate I’m going I may never finish this trail, and that’s okay, because there are so many things to see along the way and so many other trails to experience.

You know the saying-

It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

My favorite part is being able to look back at what I’ve just hiked over.

Crappy Car has brought us home safe and sound, minus a couple toenails and a spot of poison ivy. We both have a slight limp that I’m sure can be cured with a weekend of football and real food.         And yes, I already miss the trail!

  1. Congratulations to you both. Your toenails will return in time for you to journey again. Also, congratulations to the crappy car. I leave tomorrow and arrive home tomorrow. It’s funny how time travel works. I will see you soon. The journey is the best part! xo

  2. So glad you are back and recovering! Call when you’ve rested. Thanks again for taking us with you on another section of your awesome adventure. More pics from trail always welcome!
